Written Summary:
This is the third tape
in a four tape series by Gata Importers that deals with Brazilian JiuJitsu. Like
the previous two tapes in this series, this video is geared for the NHB tournament
martial artist. This video gives some basic techniques for escaping the side mount
and top mount position and a few escapes for headlocks on the ground. This video
also does not waste time with needless repetitions of techniques but instead shows
the technique twice at demonstration speed and once in slow motion. After that, Mr.
Franca moves on to the next technique.
The techniques shown on this video
are not new to the experienced grappler but will be of much benefit to someone who
has little to no experience in Brazilian JiuJitsu. While the tape is only about 25
minutes long, there are still 12 techniques presented which makes the tape a reasonable
value. These moves would be effective on the street if the opponent is not skilled
in this particular style of martial art. Mr. Franca is obviously a highly skilled
grappler and my only criticism of this tape is that I had a hard time understanding
Mr. Franca on the first viewing. On subsequent viewings, I was able to understand
Mr. Franca without difficulty.
This tape is recommended for those martial
artists who are new to ground grappling and want to learn the basic to intermediate
techniques.
